One of France’s leading competition lawyers, Claude Lazarus has joined Bird & Bird’s Paris office from Howrey LLP, bringing with him a team of three lawyers.

Claude is a specialist in all aspects of French and European competition law, including anti-competitive practices, restrictive practices, merger control, state aid, and deregulation law. Chambers and Partners hail him as one of the pillars of competition law in France and describe him as "brilliant, inspired and driven".

Michel Roseau, Partner commented: “We are looking forward to welcoming Claude and his team, currently one of the most reputed in the marketplace and to combining our respective experience in order to offer our clients first class expertise at both the domestic and Europe-wide levels in all areas of competition law: merger control, antitrust and State aid.”

Claude Lazarus commented: “For the team and myself, we wanted a firm for which competition and corporate law are considered strategically. Bird & Bird’s International EU & Competition Group and the recent recruitments to their corporate team testify that this is the case with Bird & Bird. We were also looking for a firm recognised for its commitment to excellence of service, its dynamic, its ambition and its friendly atmosphere. In blending all of these criteria Bird & Bird was clearly the right choice."
