Bird & Bird welcomes Jörg Paura as partner in its International Corporate Group. Jörg will join the Hamburg office on 1 April 2013, from Hogan Lovells. He brings along an experienced team of two Counsel: Daniel Weiss and Mirjam Rüve.

Jörg specialises in corporate law, M&A, corporate finance, restructuring and insolvency. He brings extensive expertise in the field of compliance, particularly in advising supervisory boards. His prime focus is on the steel, automotive and media sectors. Jörg was at Hogan Lovells for over two decades where he was appointed partner in 1997.

Daniel Weiss specialises in the areas of corporate law, restructuring and M&A and, like Jörg, has extensive industry expertise in media, aviation and steel.

Mirjam Rüve focuses on restructuring and M&A transactions, particularly for insolvency. She mainly advises companies in the steel sector, as well as the food and automotive industries. She also represents clients in corporate disputes.

Alexander Schröder-Frerkes, Managing Partner of Bird & Bird Germany and head of the International Corporate Group said: “We are pleased to expand our International Corporate Group with Jörg and his team. They all bring remarkable experience in three of our key sectors and, alongside Ingo Meyer in Frankfurt who joined in October 2012, are yet another valuable asset to our group locally and internationally.”

Jörg Paura comments on his joining Bird & Bird: “My colleagues and I appreciate Bird & Bird’s fresh strategic approach, particularly for international growth and sector-focus. The high degree of specialisation within specific industry sectors is exciting for us and I believe will provide a solid foundation for Daniel, Mirjam and I to continue our work in the corporate sphere in our key industries.”
