Bird & Bird strengthens tax team in Paris

06 March 2012

Bird & Bird announces the arrival of a team of four associates, Vaea Pery, Rébecca Feliman, Edouard Bouscasse and Anton Chyrkov, who have joined the Tax department, led by Laurence Clot, in Bird & Bird’s Paris office.

Vaea Pery, who graduated with a DESS [postgraduate diploma] in Commercial and Tax law from the Université de Paris I and was called to the Bar in 2001, was previously an associate at Landwell & Associés, Denton Wild Sapte and Ernst & Young. Her expertise lies particularly in managing national and international tax problems for businesses.  She advises clients both during exceptional operations (acquisitions, restructuring, rationalizing, creating partnerships) as well as on the management of current tax obligations. Vaea also provides advice on tax audits and tax disputes.

Rébecca Feliman, who graduated with a D.E.A [postgraduate diploma] in Tax law from the Université de Paris I and was called to the Bar in 2002, regularly advises clients, and more specifically executives, on personal income tax, on asset transfers (private or professional property), management packages, trusts, residence transfers, succession planning, and donations on a national or international level (wills, donations, drafting of beneficiary clauses in life insurance contracts). Rebecca also advises clients regarding relations with the tax authorities in the context of tax audits and disputes.

Before joining Bird & Bird Rebecca was an associate at DS Avocats and Ernst & Young.

With 10 years experience and very complementary fields of expertise, Vaea Pery and Rebecca Feliman will strengthen the Tax department led by Laurence Clot.

The firm also welcomes: Edouard Bouscasse, who graduated with a Master 2 in Tax law and a Master’s degree in Commercial Law from the Université de Paris II. He has solid experience in the areas of corporate taxation, international taxation (determining and setting up international tax schemes), M&A (sale and acquisition audits, setting up acquisition structures) tax audits and tax disputes. Edouard previously worked at Ernst & Young, which he joined in 2007.

Anton Chyrkov, who graduated with a DJCE in Commercial law from the Université de Poitiers, and was previously an associate at Ernst & Young. He is experienced in corporate taxation issues (restructuring, asset deals, creation of subsidiaries) and also advises clients in the area of property taxation (ISF (wealth tax) and IR (income tax) declarations, taxation matters in relation to the creation of trusts or the fiscal impact of the sale of company securities).

These strategic appointments show Bird & Bird’s desire to offer its clients a global value-added approach regarding advice on tax matters.

The team aims to take its place among the major players in Tax law in Paris. It will work closely with the Corporate team in Bird & Bird’s French office which regularly deals with acquisition and reorganization operations both in France and on an international level, as well as with the firm’s international network in most of the areas of law in which Bird & Bird specializes, in particular Information Technology.
