Bird & Bird re-elects CEO David Kerr and Chairman Michael Frie

23 March 2010

International law firm Bird & Bird is delighted to announce the re-election of David Kerr as CEO and Michael Frie as Chairman for further three year terms. Bird & Bird undergoes a formal election process every three years to review its Board level appointments.

David will be starting a further three year term as CEO, having occupied the firm’s lead role for 14 years. Since David first became CEO in 1996, the firm has evolved into a truly international business. The re-election of Swedish based Michael for a second term also reflects this.

Michael joined the firm in 2000 when it merged with Stockholm firm Gedda & Ekdahl, where he was Managing Partner.

Michael Frie, Bird & Bird Chairman, commented: “I am very pleased and honoured to be given the privilege to lead the Board for an additional three year term and look forward to continuing my active role in the leadership of the firm. The firm is well placed to strengthen its position across its respective markets and continue to establish itself as one of the leading law firms in Europe and Asia for innovative companies.”

David Kerr, Bird & Bird CEO, adds: “It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to continue in my role as CEO. The last 18 months have presented unprecedented challenges to the global economy and the legal profession generally. We continue to be relatively well-positioned in terms of our distinctive strategy, geographic reach and client service capabilities. There has been a dynamic shift in the legal market and the next few years present a substantial opportunity for us to deliver on clients’ increasingly complex needs.”
