Bird & Bird advises IONA Technologies PLC on acquisition

22 March 2007

International law firm Bird & Bird has been advising new client, IONA Technologies PLC, a world leader in distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA), on its acquisition of UK company Century 24 Solutions (C24), a leading software developer specialising in data management and transformation technology.

This acquisition expands IONA's ability to provide the products and services their customers need to deploy truly distributed SOA infrastructure solutions, independent of existing platforms, transports, protocols, and now data formats.

Commenting Peter Zotto, CEO of IONA Technologies PLC said,
“This acquisition is a natural extension of how we enable our customers to generate greater ROI from their existing and future IT assets and reduce their fixed costs of IT ownership. We are delighted with Bird & Bird’s involvement”.

Commenting on the transaction, Mark Pinder said:

“We were very pleased to be able to work on this important initiative. It is exactly the type of work we like to do given our involvement in the IT sector”.

Partner Mark Pinder led the team and was assisted by Associate, Helen Down. C24 was represented by Barlow Lyde & Gilbert.
