Bird & Bird wins bid to advise Republic of Serbia on mobile telecoms privatisation

08 May 2006

A consortium including international law firm Bird & Bird has been chosen by the Republic of Serbia to advise on the privatisation of Mobi63, a mobile telecommunications company – a company valued over €800 million. The sale process of Mobi63 is being led by Paris based Rothschild & Cie.

Bird & Bird is the lead international legal counsel within the consortium which also includes French consultancy Horus Telecoms & Utilities, Serbian financial counsel Citadel Financial Advisory, and law firm Drazic, Beatovic & Partners. Bird & Bird brings to the mix of services within the consortium vast experience of acquisitions and privatizations, especially within the telecommunications sector, and in particular extensive knowledge of the regulatory aspects. Partners Frédérique Dupuis-Toubol (regulatory) and Marc Baffreau (corporate) along with senior counsel, Christophe Barthélemy (public & privatisation), form the core Bird & Bird team.

Mobi 63 was created as a joint venture between Austrian investors (Holdenhurst) and the Republic of Serbia, and will receive a GSM & UMTS license at the end of the tender process.
