Bird & Bird boosts corporate team with key hire

01 December 2005

International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited Alistair Crellin to join its expanding corporate group. Based in the firm's London office, Alistair joins Bird & Bird from Pinsent Masons where until recently he was a partner in their London office. His appointment is the latest in a series of high profile hires for Bird & Bird's corporate team in recent months.

A highly regarded corporate lawyer, Alistair's experience covers a full range of corporate finance, M&A and private equity work with a strong reputation for AIM work. Prior to working at Pinsent Masons, Alistair spent 9 years at Durrant Piesse/Lovell White Durrant. His appointment will significantly enhance Bird & Bird's public securities team, a key growth area for the London corporate group and on an international level will also support the firm's activities in its UK float work of Euro-zone and US companies.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Pinder, co-head of the firm's international corporate group said:

"We're all delighted that Alistair is joining us. He is a proven business builder and has a very strong reputation for AIM work. I'm sure he will be an invaluable asset to our growing international corporate group".

Alistair added:

"Bird & Bird has developed a very exciting business and I really am looking forward to joining their corporate team. They have worked on some very interesting deals and have a strong commitment to continue to expand its corporate team on an international level".

Bird & Bird's corporate group has grown in the last year with a number of high profile appointments across its international network. Partner Mark Pinder joined last October from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in the firm's UK office soon after partner Erich Michel from Norton Rose and Mikael Engquist from Eniro joined Bird & Bird's German and Swedish offices respectively. More recently the firm has expanded its corporate tax group with laterals joining from Linklaters and Lovells.
