Bird & Bird boosts tax group with key hire

Another high profile appointment as firm continues expansion

International law firm, Bird & Bird, has recruited Peter Fisher, a highly rated corporate tax partner from Lovells, to join its International Tax Group. Joining on the 3rd of May, Peter will be working at the firm’s London office where he will help further develop the group’s tax expertise. His appointment follows a series of high profile hires in recent months from major international firms.

Peter brings over 24 years experience to Bird & Bird covering a range of corporate tax matters both domestically and internationally. He has built a strong reputation for long term projects for which he has been highly rated by the leading guides to the UK legal profession. Headline examples include working on the PPP for NATS and advising on the Wembley National Stadium project.

Commenting on his appointment, Trevor James, joint head of Bird & Bird’s International Tax Group said:

In recent months Bird & Bird has made a number of high profile senior appointments. UK based partners Graeme Maguire (Comms/IT), Gerry Kamstra (Life Sciences) and Mark Pinder (Corporate), joined from Linklaters, Simmons & Simmons and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher respectively while earlier last year partners Rhys Williams (Comms) and Russell Dellar (Real Estate) joined from Simmons & Simmons and Landwell respectively. In Germany, Erich Michel joined the firm as a corporate partner from Norton Rose while in France, partners Jean-Dominique Bloch (Public Law) and Ariane Mole (Data Protection) were recruited with teams to set up new departments. Jean-Dominique joined from August & Debouzy and Ariane from Bensoussan.
