Bird & Bird advises Alternative Networks on acquisition

14 October 2005

International law firm Bird & Bird has been advising Alternative Networks plc, one of the UK’s leading telecommunications resellers on its £11m acquisition of Integrated Communications for Business (UK) Ltd (“ICB”). This follows the AIM IPO of Alternative Networks on which Bird & Bird also advised earlier this year.

Alternative Networks provides a broad portfolio of communications products including mobile, fixed line and data products to UK SME and small corporate customers. The acquisition of ICB, a mobile and fixed line telecoms service provider, was for an initial consideration of £6 million and a deferred consideration depending on the future profitability of ICB of up to a further £5 million.

Bird & Bird advised on all corporate aspects of the acquisition. Corporate partner and co-head of the firm’s corporate group, Neil Blundell led the deal with assistance from Helen Down. ICB was advised by Norton Rose.
