30 July 2002

Key hire complements expanding corporate team

International law firm Bird & Bird has just recruited an employment partner to join its rapidly expanding office in The Hague. Joining from Dutch firm Loyens & Loeff, Philip Hartman will play a crucial role in providing employment advice to The Hague’s increasing volume of clients, particularly within the corporate practice. He will be joining the firm on 1 August 2002.

The recruitment follows announcements of a number of significant developments across Bird & Bird’s international network. The launch of an office in Düsseldorf coupled with the expansion of Bird & Bird’s international tax and corporate groups has led to a series of key hires in London and Paris as well as The Hague. With a strong background in employment law particularly relating to corporate transactions, Hartman’s recruitment will bring an added dimension to the firms’ expanding corporate group.

Commenting on the appointment, joint managing partner of Bird & Bird’s office in The Hague, Harry Rek, said:

“I am delighted that Philip will be coming on board. He is a highly experienced employment lawyer particularly in deal-related and corporate activity. This type of experience will prove to be of considerable value to our clients, many of whom are in the IT and Telecommunications industries. Our clients require a full service approach and with Philip joining we will be better able to service their needs”.

Commenting on his appointment, Philip Hartman said:

“With a background in corporate and employment law I am very excited about the opportunity of working with the team at Bird & Bird”.
