The new rules on digital mail for companies and associations in Denmark will take effect on 1 November 2013, however it has recently emerged that over 300,000 companies and associations have not yet signed up.

As reported by Bird & Bird on 12 September 2013 (Danish article) a new set of rules on digital mail will take effect on 1 November 2013. Companies and associations will only be able to receive financial statements, criminal certificates, information on sickness benefits and other important information on their mandatory digital mailbox.

The Danish Business Authority, however, states that over 300,000 companies and associations have not yet set up a digital mailbox. Failure to set up a digital mailbox will cause that the company or association will not receive its mail.

Bird & Bird recommends to set up your company’s or association’s digital mailbox on the Danish Business Authority’s website as soon as possible to ensure receipt of your mail.
