Bird & Bird launches IP Academy in The Hague

17 October 2012

We recently launched the Bird & Bird IP Academy in our Hague office, an annual series of four IP modules targeted at our clients' management and in-house counsel.

The first seminar was successfully held on Thursday 27 September by partner Armand Killan and associate Maurits Westerik and attended by 30 of our clients.

The IP Academy provides strategic advice and practical tips to clients and has been launched in response to our clients’ demand for this kind of training. As Armand explains: "Research states that 80% of the value of a company is derived from intangible assets, which explains the high amount of interest in IP rights".

The first seminar has received excellent feedback from attendees:

"The seminar exceeded my expectations. In a short time a perfect overview of the most important aspects of IP law was presented. A good refresher course supplemented with recent rulings and executed by enthusiastic and inspirational speakers."

"This was an excellent introduction to Intellectual property rights, I am looking forward to the next sessions of the IP Academy, especially the one on patents"

Maurits Westerik added: "As presenters, we enjoyed the fact that there was a lot of interaction with the participants. It was clear that this IP Academy introduction fulfilled a need of our clients."

The remaining three modules of the 2012/2013 series will be held over the coming months covering topics including trademarks, patents and copyrights. If you’d like to register, please click here (in Dutch).
