The UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has issued its decision regarding the purchase of the business and assets of the Constellation Group (trading as Gaymers Cider) by the C & C Group who own Magners cider.  The UK turnover for Gaymers Cider in the previous financial year was £61 million, and C & C purchased Gaymers from Constellation Europe on 15 January 2010 for £45 million.

The OFT concluded that the merger would not result in a substantial lessening in competition in the UK and therefore decided not to make a reference to the Competition Commission.

OFT Decision ME/4415/10 given on 8 April 2010 on reference under section 22 of the Competition Act.  Full text of decision published 21 May 2010.
