IT sector breakfast briefing: Big Data - Overcoming the challenges

Date: 10 July 2014
Time: 08.00 - 10.00    Venue: Bird & Bird, 15 Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1JP

Data is now a key asset, and raw material, for many businesses. Unprecedented quantities of electronic data are now being generated, shared and exploited and it has been predicted that enhanced use of data may add hundreds of billions of pounds of value and tens of thousands of jobs to the UK economy in future years.

We'd like to invite you to an open discussion and networking session on the challenges associated with successfully capitalizing on data and the hype currently surrounding it.  This session will have value for all those involved with large or valuable data sets and address topics such as:

  • to what extent can data be controlled as an asset?
  • how can data be protected and exploited?
  • is the excitement surrounding Big Data justified?
  • how to turn Big Data into big outcomes?

We are delighted that Mischa Dohler will be able to join us. Mischa is Professor in Wireless Communications at King's College and frequently features as keynote speaker on a variety of related topics, including smart technologies and Big and Open Data. Mischa is also a tech company investor and entrepreneur, being with the Board of Directors of Worldsensing, a company focusing on smart technology.
