The Bribery Act in the Defence sector

Date: 22 June 2011

Bird & Bird's International Aerospace, Defence and Security Group would like to invite you to a seminar titled 'UK Defence Industrial Strategy - Trouble Ahead!' on Thursday 16 June 2011 from 08.00.

In 2010 we considered the shape of the UK Bribery Bill and discussed concerns within and representations from the sector.  This session will consider the Bribery Act 2010 as enacted, which will come into effect from 1 July 2011 and the extent to which concerns and representations have been reflected in the Guidelines issued by the Secretary of State for Justice.  What are the concerns facing in-house lawyers, managers and directors, where risks require assessment and the development of adequate procedures?  We are delighted that Vivian Robinson QC, General Counsel at the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) returns to provide a unique insight into the enforcement of the legislation, whilst Transparency International's Chandra Krishnan will provide the global context for anti-corruption initiatives.  A panel discussion will consider the actions that may be needed to manage your risks.

We hope you will be able to join us.
