Ministry of Justice to review televised proceedings in lower courts

The Ministry of Justice is set to review the restrictions on televised court proceedings in the lower courts. After recent high profile cases, such as the Tommy Robinson contempt of court proceedings, it has become clear that legal proceedings can be misrepresented to the public. It is hoped that recorded court proceedings will prevent misunderstanding and allow the public to connect with the legal process. However, others argue that as all trials are open to the public anyway, this will just create a 'media circus'.
