Markus Koerner
Dr Markus Körner advises clients in intellectual property rights, in particular trade mark law and competition law, including the conduct of a case and contract law. Furthermore, he acts in all areas of sports and media law, e.g. sponsoring and licence agreements.

Dr Körner was admitted to the Munich bar in 2000 and joined Bird & Bird’s Munich office from inception in October 2003. Before joining Bird & Bird he has worked for the international law firm of Unger & Duvinage (former Meyer-Wölden) in Munich from 2000 to 2003, where he advised not only companies but also sports federations, professional teams, agencies, prominent athletes and artists.

Dr Körner studied law from 1991 to 1996 at the universities of Bonn and Lausanne (Schweiz). From 1996 to 1998 he did his doctor’s degree at the institute of employment law and law of social security of Prof. Dr Meinhard Heinze at the University of Bonn. His legal internship he attended from 1998 to 2000 in Cologne.

Dr Körner is inter alia member of Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (GRUR) and International Sports Lawyers Association (ISLA).
