Sajid is an Associate at Bird & Bird, and is a member of the firm’s Commercial Group. 

Sajid primarily advises on European and international trade matters including customs, export controls and sanctions compliance.  He has participated in various trade remedy (anti-dumping and anti-subsidy) cases and been involved WTO Dispute Resolution proceedings.  He has also advised companies on the application of trade agreements including Free Trade Agreements and the WTO Agreements. 

In the area of customs, Sajid counsels clients on classification, rules of origin, preferential tariff regimes as well as valuations. On export controls and sanctions, Sajid advises clients on licensing, enforcement and strategic issues with respect to the UK and EU dual-use and military export control regimes, as well as the UK and EU sanctions regimes against Iran, Syria and Sudan, among other countries.  

Sajid also has experience in European chemicals regulation and in particular, has advised manufacturers and importers on how to comply with the REACH Regulation.

Sajid has also worked on India related matters for more than eight years.  Prior to practicing law in the UK, he worked for the in-house legal division of India’s largest business house and a prominent Indian law firm.
