Jarste Akkermann is member of our Intellectual Property Practice Group, advising European and US-American clients in the fields of Unfair Competition and Intellec-tual Property Law. She focuses on extra-judicial advice as well as litigation and ar-bitration. Jarste Akkermann is member of our International Food & Beverage Group and the Life Sciences sector group. She mainly advises clients of the food, pharmaceutical, medical devices and cosmetics industries. She is especially con-signed to regulatory legal issues. Jarste Akkermann is also responsible for the in-ternational client newsletter “Food Law Digest”.

Jarste Akkermann was admitted to the Bar at the beginning of 2006. Prior to join-ing Bird & Bird in July 2008, she worked for the international law firm Mayer Brown LLP. Jarste Akkermann studied law from 1997 to 2003 at the universities of Jena, Port Elizabeth (South Africa) and Münster. She completed her Master of Laws of Taxation (LL.M.) at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in 2003. During her legal clerkship from 2003 to 2005 she worked for the Police Academy in Hiltrup and Henkel KGaA in Düsseldorf.

Jarste Akkermann speaks German (native), English and French. She is a member of the German Intellectual Property and Copyright Association (GRUR).
