Our specialist learning and development department organises both legal and business skills training for our lawyers at all stages of their careers - from trainees to partners. This is because everybody is keen to be a strong technical lawyer, as well as proficient at the business side of legal practice. At Bird & Bird you can therefore be assured of getting comprehensive and excellent support, to learn and grow.

There are a myriad of learning and career development opportunities at Bird & Bird - from language training and key industry briefings, to contract drafting workshops, negotiation simulations, and also career development by means of secondments to other Bird & Bird offices or to clients. New and interesting legal developments are always flagged and discussed in our legal seminar programmes, so you can be sure to be up-to-date with the latest changes in the law.

Learning might be in a large or small group seminar - it could be bespoke individual coaching around personal interests and needs - it may include advice from in-house or external experts - and it could involve colleagues from our international network of offices. But what all our learning has in common, is that it is highly practical and focussed on helping our people to achieve their professional goals.

From day one as a trainee at Bird & Bird, we work with you to develop your business skills by means of a special Trainee Development Programme. The Programme focuses on all facets of professional life as a trainee, with workshops such as how to get involved in marketing, getting ahead with financial awareness, working in legal teams and operating in an international business. We will brief you about all sectors of the firm and will support you through your compulsory Professional Skills Course.

On completion of your Training Contract you will continue to be invited to interesting workshops to develop your business skills as a Junior Associate. And throughout your career there will always be plenty of legal seminars, external courses and other learning and development opportunities open to you.
