Joseph has an outstanding reputation as an expert in trade mark, design, copyright and unfair competition law and is a renowned legal expert in the sports and sponsorship sector.
Joseph is a partner specialised in intellectual property, media and sports law. He is based in Munich, where he acts as co-head for our International Sports Sector Group.
Joseph’s expertise covers the full range of contentious and non-contentious matters of trade mark, design rights, media and sports law. His extensive forensic work includes national and multi-jurisdictional IP litigation cases, including those related to the infringement of community trade marks and community design rights. Joseph provides strategic advice to prestigious German and international businesses, especially concerning the development and optimization of registration and protection strategies for national and international trade mark portfolios.
Additionally, Joseph advises in all areas of sports and media law. His work includes issues concerning sponsoring and the drafting of contracts. In that context, he represents both sponsors and recipients of sponsorships.
Joseph is a member of the German Intellectual Property Rights Association (GRUR), the International Trade Mark association (INTA) and the German Association for Sports Law. Moreover, he has been appointed as arbitrator of the German Court of Arbitration for Sports (DIS). He also lectures at the Munich Business School in media and sports law.
Before joining us in 2003, Joseph was inter alia General Counsel to T-Online International AG and was an in-house lawyer with Deutsche Telekom responsible for the worldwide trademark portfolio and the Deusche Telekom Group sport-sponsorships.
