In September 2005 we opened our 13th office in Spain's capital, Madrid. As the fifth largest economy in Europe, Spain is an important market for Bird & Bird particularly in the IP, communications, IT and life sciences sectors, four of the firm’s main sectors of activity.
In conjunction with its other offices, a presence in Madrid has helped secure Bird & Bird’s European coverage for these key sectors. The core team of Bird & Bird Madrid offers a full service in the same tradition as that offered in Bird & Bird’s other offices around the world. The office is headed by Managing Partner Javier Fernández-Samaniego.
