Bird & Bird promotes 14 to partnership in record year

International law firm Bird & Bird announces today that it has promoted 14 lawyers internationally to the partnership – the firm’s highest ever figure and double last year’s total of seven.

Four new partners are made up in the UK and also four in Germany; two are made up in France and one lawyer is promoted in each of The Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden. The appointments are with effect from 1 May 2008 and bring the total number of partners up to 187. This figure includes ten partners in Finland, as Bird & Bird’s merger with Fennica Attorneys Ltd of Helsinki, is also effected on 1 May.

The new partners are:

Dirk Barcaba (Frankfurt) - specialises in real estate and distressed debt transactions.

Ina vom Feld (Düsseldorf) - focuses on the life sciences sector covering both patent and pharmaceutical law.

Stefan Münch (Munich) - primarily advises clients on M&A, private equity and venture capital.

Matthias Meyer (Düsseldorf) – specialises in intellectual property law, in particular international patent infringement.

Stéphane Leriche (Paris) - focuses on commercial law issues in the IT, e-commerce and telecommunications sectors.

Hubert Mortemard de Boisse (Lyon) - advises on competition law, regulatory aspects of electronic communications and contentious matters relating to unfair competition practices.

Ernst Barten (The Hague) - advises on a wide range of international and Dutch domestic tax matters relating to commercial corporate transactions.

Stefano Silvestri (Milan) - primarily advises Italian and international clients on M&A, general corporate and commercial matters.

Daniel Cifuentes (Madrid) - provides advice to large multinational companies in all areas of employment and social security law.

Mahmut Baran (Stockholm) – has considerable experience in providing tax advice both in Sweden and internationally.

Angus Miln (London) - specialises in venture capital and private equity transactions, private M&A, joint ventures and corporate restructurings.

Elizabeth Lang (London) - advises extensively on executive terminations and general employment-related issues.

Joss Hargrave (London) - advises on a wide variety of banking transactions and has considerable corporate insolvency and restructuring experience.

Patrick Kelleher (London) - primarily focuses on patent litigation and has particular experience in the pharmaceuticals and biotechnology fields.
