Before joining Bird & Bird in October 2003, Raimondo worked at the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission (CONSOB) in the Financial Intermediaries Division (Investment Services and Investment Management Offices). While there Raimondo gained deep knowledge and experience of Italian and European asset management and financial services regulation. He supervised matters relating to Collective Investment Undertakings, investment management companies and individual portfolio managers. Raimondo actively participated in updating Consob regulation on financial intermediaries and issuers and was involved in the European and International process of harmonisation carried out by the CESR (Committee of European Securities Regulators) and IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions).
Raimondo was an Italian delegate of the European Commission UCITS Contact Committee (established according to directive EEC/611/85, and an Italian member of the European Commission Task Force on (UCITS’) Simplified Prospectus (provided by directive EC/107/2001). He also lectured the Romanian and Albanian Securities Commission’s personnel about the European Commission Programme.
Raimondo graduated with honors from the LUISS University of Rome in 1997. From 1998-1999 he attended the University of Bari and received a post graduate qualification in European Private Law. In 2002 he attended the London School of Economics’ summer school on Financial Regulation.
He is a member of the Bar in Milan. He is a native Italian speaker and is fluent in English.
