Nick is a solicitor in the Intellectual Property group and is based in the London office. Nick has a broad practice which includes advising on both contentious and non-contentious issues concerning many aspects of intellectual property law. Nick has been involved in a variety of matters within the sectors of sport, media, internet/e-commerce, and communications/IT. He also advises on advertising law and regulation, having gained additional experience in that area through secondments at the in-house IP department of a large UK telecoms client.
Nick’s recent work has seen him acting for a US-based claimant in High Court proceedings relating to computer hacking, and advising on the IP aspects of a large scale corporate restructure and brand licensing exercise. Nick has also acted on a Europe-wide IP enforcement programme combating look-alike consumer electronics products, working with UK and other EU Customs offices. Nick advises on areas such as copyright and trade mark issues relating to multi-media services and domain name disputes, and on the protection and enforcement of rights in connection with sporting events.
Nick’s High Court litigation experience includes Daimler AG v Sany Group Co Ltd and The Codemasters Software Co Ltd v Automobile Club de l’Ouest.
Nick regularly contributes to a number of legal publications, including the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and the Trade Marks Handbook.
