Catherine is a partner in our Brussels office. She specialises in information technology law and in particular, e-commerce, electronic data interchange and data protection. In addition, Catherine co-heads our firm wide Aviation Group as a very significant part of her practice including advising clients in the aviation & aerospace sectors.
Catherine's IT and e-commerce practice covers the whole range of IT contracts including service level agreements, outsourcing, technical contracts, as well as e-commerce issues like e-payment problems, domain names and encryption. She advises a.o. IT service providers, hardware manufacturers, software developers, communication companies and also non-IT clients on IT-related issues.
In the aviation & aerospace sectors, she has extensive experience which notably encompasses representation, advice and litigation in relation to commercial contracts, business practices and regulatory issues. She amongst others has a broad experience advising on groundhandling related matters, use of new technologies in the aviation sector (e-ticketing, relationship with CRS computer reservation systems, online offering of travels), as well as related litigation and advice on the relationship between airports, airlines, travel agencies and tour operators and other stakeholders.
Catherine is a board and founding member of the Brussels Aviation Law Forum (BALF) and a member of the European Aviation Club and of IAWA (the International Aviation Women’s Association).
Both her experience in the IT and aviation fields are recognized in the top tiers by EURO LEGAL 500.
Catherine has been a member of the Brussels Bar since 1984 and speaks and writes Dutch, French and English fluently.
