DPBulletin.jpg
Welcome

We attach October's data protection update.  Interesting points to note this month are:

  • the House of Commons' Justice Select Committee has recommended, following a similar call by the Information Commissioner, that the government grant the ICO additional powers including the ability to conduct compulsory audits and to seek custodial sentences for serious misuse of personal information; and
  • the Information Commissioner's announcement that the ICO is developing specific guidance on anonymisation under s.51 of the Data Protection Act.

As ever, please do not hesitate to contact the Bird & Bird Data Privacy Team if you have any queries.
