Pauline Kuipers is an EU & competition law partner in the Hague and Co-Managing Partner of Bird & Bird’s Dutch office. Pauline specialises in EU and Dutch competition law with a particular focus on the media sector and other regulated markets. In competition law matters, she has experience in cartel procedures, abuse of dominance matters, merger notifications to the Dutch competition authority and European Commission as well as coordination of multiple merger filings, private enforcement actions, competition regulation of network industries as well as the media sector and competition rules on undertakings granted special or exclusive rights by the state. Her practice also includes public procurement law.
Pauline is recommended for competition law in various legal directories. Her previous experience in Intellectual Property law has brought her specific expertise to advise in matters on the verge between competition law and intellectual property, such as licensing arrangements and other technology transfer agreements, standardization discussions, refusal to license, abuse of IP rights etc.
Pauline just stepped down from the board of the Dutch Association for Competition Law (Vereniging voor Mededingingsrecht). She has been Secretary General of the International League for Competition Law (LIDC) and is also a member of the Dutch Association for Media & Communications Law, Association for Public Procurement Law and Licensing Executive Society (LES). Pauline teaches competition law in the Professional Education for In-House Lawyers (SBB) and regularly publishes on competition law topics.
