Michelle has an excellent reputation as a leading energy and utilities lawyer.
Michelle is head of our Energy and Utilities Group based in the Netherlands.
Michelle’s expertise and practical experience covers the whole chain of contentious and non-contentious matters of energy law (exploration, production, trading, transmission, distribution and supply of energy) and lobbying. She advises national and multinational clients on regulatory matters involving energy infrastructure, renewable energy projects (biogas, wind, heating) carbon credits, tariff regulation and compliance.
Her team’s involvement includes commercial and corporate advice as well as transactions in the energy sector. Her client base comprises of energy producers, energy suppliers, grid operators and the energy intensive industry. As a frequent litigator, she represents clients in numerous administrative law proceedings regarding decisions of the Dutch energy regulator and in civil law actions in energy related matters.
Michelle has written and spoken widely on energy and utilities issues. She is editor of the Dutch Journal on Energy Law (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Energierecht) and serves on the Board of the Dutch Association of Energy Lawyers (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Energierecht).
Michelle is also active as Senior Vice-Chair of the Power Law Committee of the International Bar Association.
