Swee Siang heads the Dispute Resolution practice group of ATMD Bird & Bird LLP and has been practising in the field of civil litigation and international arbitration for more than ten years, and has handled all aspects of litigation from the Subordinate Courts level right up to the Court of Appeal. He was involved in the largest representative action in Singapore's history to date, and more recently, has represented international banks and large corporations in various matters heard in the High Court. Swee Siang has also been active in construction law, employment law (in which area he advises a number of multi-national companies), and family law.
He also has extensive experience in the field of arbitration and multi-jurisdictional litigation, regularly representing parties in SIAC and ICC arbitrations involving major claims.
Swee Siang graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1995 with Second Class (Upper) Honours, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1996. He obtained his Master of Laws (Merit) from the University of London in 1999.
Currently, Swee Siang is a trainer in the Advocacy module and a tutor in the Civil Procedure class of the postgraduate Practical Law Course conducted by the Board of Legal Education. He is also regularly invited as a speaker in seminars on employment law in Singapore."
