Alice joined Bird & Bird in 2005 as a trainee solicitor and qualified into the Intellectual Property Group in 2007. She has a scientific background, with a Master’s degree in physics from Oxford University. Alice also has a post graduate diploma in intellectual property from Oxford University.
Alice has advised on a broad range of intellectual property matters in relation to patents (InterDigital v Nokia; Nokia v IPCom ; University of Queensland v Siemens Magnet Technology), trade marks, passing off, copyright, domain names and confidential information. Due to her background and interest in physics, much of her work relates to matters within the telecommunications, electronics and computer sectors and she is a member of Bird & Bird’s Electronics Group. She has contributed to various legal publications and regularly reports on trade mark, design and copyright matters for the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents.
Before training as a solicitor Alice worked as an IT consultant primarily advising the UK government (including the Ministry of Defence) in relation to information systems security.
