The Public Sector - Project Finance group is a multidisciplinary team that combines the expertise of specialists in Public Law and projects with that of specialists in Banking and Finance law (eight lawyers), thus allowing Bird & Bird to accompany its clients in all the legal aspects of their projects
The group gives legal advice to industrial operators and other sponsors, lenders, governments and public authorities, investment banks and developers with regard to infrastructure projects and is active in the energy and natural resources sectors as well as in privatisations.
The team acts in matters of public contracts (outsourcing of public services, partnership contracts, emphyteutic administrative leases, public procurement, public domain occupation agreements), construction, operation and maintenance contracts and consortium agreements as well as in regulatory and regulation matters particularly in the fields of electricity, gas, and telecommunications. The team also acts in litigation before the administrative courts.
The Public Law group works alongside the firm’s finance team which has renowned expertise in the financing of buyouts, advising lenders, mezzanine capital funds, borrowers or financial investors.
The Financing team has also developed expertise in the financing of projects and real estate financing.
The Paris office is particularly involved in operations and projects in France and in other civil law jurisdictions especially in some African and Central European countries.
On the international level, the Public Sector - Project Finance group works directly with its partners in the firm’s other European offices (Bratislava, Brussels, Budapest, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, The Hague, Helsinki, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Prague, Rome, Stockholm and Warsaw) thus making their specific skills available to clients in projects requiring a global, European approach.
