To launch the Bird & Bird Associate Lecture Series 2012, the Bird & Bird Associates Held A Focus Symposium entitled The Green Scene: Navigating the Legal Issues in the Green Economy.
Including Commercial, IP, Corporate and Tax Associates from our Cleantech, Environmental and Climate Change groups, for a study of the key legal considerations for businesses within the Green Economy.
The Symposium drew on Bird & Bird's experience in advising clients on the legal implications for those involved in, operating in, affected by or seeking to benefit from the Green Economy. We provided a practical guide to the environmental regulations which affect the day-to-day management of businesses and their contractual arrangements in the UK. Speakers from Bird & Bird's Paris and Abu Dhabi offices provided an overview of the regulatory framework within Europe and the Middle East.
The Symposium also provided practical advice for businesses to capitalise on schemes and benefits to reduce their overhead energy costs and investigate renewable energy options, including consideration of the tax incentives available.
Finally, we discussed how a business can advertise its environmental credentials and potential pitfalls to avoid.
The In Focus Symposium was a half-day seminar held at Bird & Bird's offices in London.
Later in the year, for the first time, the In Focus Lecture series will be going on the road, with Roadshows being held in business parks outside London.
