Bird & Bird's International Aerospace, Defence and Security Group would like to invite you to a seminar titled 'Predictions are Always Wrong: Defence Firm Strategic Planning in an Uncertain World' on Thursday 22 September 2011 from 08.00.

On both sides of the Atlantic, defence firms today face a global business environment that is increasingly difficult to predict, characterized by both significant downward budget pressure and high uncertainty with respect to the magnitude and timing of cuts. Government customers across traditional core defence markets are reviewing and restructuring their plans and priorities for national security spending amid a shifting landscape of global threats, economic turbulence, and domestic politics.

What approaches should defence executives adopt to react to these conditions, whether through corporate development, portfolio restructuring, globalization, or otherwise?  The answer depends on each individual firm's exposure to and understanding of risk.

We are pleased to confirm that the speaker for this session will be Jacob Markish, Principal, from Renaissance Strategic Advisors.
