Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency

Our international Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Group acts for licensed insolvency practitioners, banks and other lenders, debtor companies and their boards, and trade creditors. As you would expect, much of our work is cross-border or has an international flavour.

Every business can experience financial difficulties: it may be due to changing economic conditions, unforeseen events, simple misjudgements or major mismanagement. Whatever your interest in the situation, there are tough choices to be made and many legal hurdles to clear.

We handle both recovery plans and formal insolvency work, combining our banking and regulatory expertise with specialist understanding of sectors such as technology, communications, e-commerce, financial services, media and aviation/aerospace. We are increasingly instructed to advise on rescue or restructuring initiatives before formal procedures are initiated.

As well as the obvious array of insolvency work, we also handle related issues such as debt rescheduling, out-of-court work-outs, asset tracing and fraud investigations. Some of this involves close cooperation with foreign counsel. We also work closely with colleagues specialising in corporate, tax, employment, real estate, intellectual property and dispute resolution.

What you can expect from us is pragmatic, sensible advice and risk analysis, high quality project management skills and a refreshing sense of calm under pressure.

Heads of Group: Brett Israel and Bertrand Biette
