The Firm is currently working with Prospects - the National Autistic Society’s employment service for people with Asperger Syndrome.
Many people with Asperger Syndrome have exceptional skills that enable them to thrive in a range of roles. They are, however, often disadvantaged when it comes to getting and keeping a job because of difficulties with social skills. They also face a general lack of understanding about the condition.
We provide professional advice, support and training to help with maximising the skills of the Society’s clients and assist in arranging internships for a period of 3 months. At the end of the 3 months, their clients are often offered full time work or use the experience they have gained to obtain full time work elsewhere.
Bird & Bird is working on a specific project called Transitions, which aims to provide graduates with support to enable them to make a transition from finishing their studies into meaningful employment. We will be offering our first internship within our IT Department starting in July 2009.
