As an international firm, the diversity of our workforce is designed to mirror that of our clients and the countries in which we operate.

Bird & Bird’s Diversity Policy is central to our recruitment and advancement process and is kept under continual review by our Diversity Committee – a cross-functional forum open to all of our people, irrespective of whether they are partners, assistants or support staff. The Committee continually reviews the firm’s policies and procedures to ensure they remain appropriate, contemporary and abreast of both legislative change and developments in social attitude. The Committee regularly review the firm’s statistics on diversity and it ensures appropriate management focus on issues such as:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Political belief
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation

The Committee reports directly to the firm’s Executive Management Group and so it has not only the endorsement but also the ear of the executive. The Committee also has direct involvement in the firm’s Recruitment, Human Resources and Learning & Development functions and, by being so positioned, has an active involvement in the critical functions of the firm.
